The future we build is about what we IMAGINE is POSSIBLE.
Thank You for A Life-Changing Evening
A Conversation With Stacey Abrams, hosted by Eric Liu, brought our community together in powerful ways. The evening explored the meaning of ownership—in both its literal form (land, home, opportunity) and its philosophical one (agency, voice, power)—and left attendees uplifted and inspired to build inclusive communities where everyone belongs.
Stacey Abrams, political leader, voting rights advocate, bestselling author, and founder of multiple organizations advancing democracy and economic equity, reminded us of the power of participation and the necessity of justice. Her words energized those present, reinforcing the belief that together we can create a more equitable future.
Eric Liu, CEO of Citizen University, former White House speechwriter, and one of the most compelling civic thinkers of our time, guided the conversation with depth and clarity. His reflections on civic power, moral imagination, and the responsibilities of belonging in a democracy connected the themes of the evening directly to Homestead’s mission.
The event benefited Homestead Community Land Trust, recognized for creating permanently affordable homes rooted in community, shared ownership, and generational justice. Marcus Harrison Green’s powerful endorsement of Homestead’s work reminded the audience that this work is not just about housing—it is about justice, belonging, and the ability of families to plant roots for generations. His heartfelt call to action urged everyone present to support Homestead now, emphasizing that the time to build inclusive, equitable communities is not someday, but today. His words gave voice to what so many in the room were feeling and turned inspiration into a shared commitment to act.
Most importantly, the evening reminded us that community is both our strength and our future—and that when we come together, we create the conditions for love, justice, and possibility.
THE OPPOSITE OF HOPELESSNESS IS ACTION.
