1. Check Your Email

If you are determined to be eligible based on the information you've provided in the Eligibility Form, you will be added to our interest list and will receive exclusive emails about homes for sale, as soon as they come available. Please also find all homes currently for sale on the Available Now page. 


  • Check out our new homes in development - here. If you are interested in any of these developments, sign up receive progress updates.

  • Continue to Save Money. In addition to your down payment there are many other costs associated with buying a home. Learn more about those costs here.

  • Pay Off Debt. You should aim to have monthly debt obligations of less than 5% of your gross monthly income. Click here for resources on improving your credit, paying down your debt and other tips on financial management


2. Express your Interest

If or when you see a home on the website that you're interested in, submit the Screening Form for that Property by the deadline. The property's Screening Form link will be available on the the property's listing on the website which will be linked to in the email. If you are determined to be eligible by the Screening Form you will automatically receive a link to begin the Full Application. See what documents you should prepare for the full application here.

3. Submit your application within 2 weeks.

Your application is due 14 days from when you submit the Screening Form, your specific application due date will be shown at the top of your application, see screenshot.  A $30 application fee is due upon submission. Applications submitted late will not be considered.


4. Check your email, staff review.

Homestead Staff will email you if we have any questions or need any additional documentation to evaluate your eligibility. 

5. Top Applicants selected.

Homestead staff will determine the top applicants based on Homestead's Buyer Selection Criteria. If you are selected as a top applicant for a specific property you continue with the next steps in the application process. 


6. Top Applicants tour the home and seek a loan pre-approval.

Top Applicants will be invited to an in-person tour of the home and seek a pre-approval letter from a participating lender. Being selected as a top applicant does not guarantee purchase, more than 1 top applicant will be selected to account for applicant attrition. Please do not seek a pre-approval until you are selected as a top applicant and are provided with Homestead's preferred lender list.

7. Pre-approval letters due.

Applicants must obtain a loan pre-approval letter by the due date to be considered for buyer selection. The pre-approval due date will be communicated when the top applicants are selected, applicants will have at least ten days to receive a pre-approval.


8. Buyer Selected.

A buyer will be selected based on Homestead's Buyer Selection Criteria.
